Art + Flea, Honolulu’s trendy urban night market known for its “last Thursday of the month” events, hosted its second installment of the “Sunday Funday Market” outside of Ward Warehouse on Sunday, September 13.
Despite the weather, guests still managed to have a great time supporting local businesses and artists.
Guests were greeted by the sounds of live music and even livelier chatter as families and friends flocked to the event. Vendors and artists that were showcased at previous Art + Flea events sold a number of their handmade goods. Among them were Maroj Clothing, Avant Pop and Adhira Clothing.
Community partners, such as Kaiser Permanente and the Hawaiian Humane Society, offered a variety of activities for the entire family – furry friends included.
Food vendors, such as Nalo Juice and Aloha Pops, served refreshing delectables.
A dance contest and workshop was held outside for all ages to enjoy, and people showed off their best dance moves.
Inside Mori – Art + Flea’s brick-and-mortar retail extension – Chad Watanabe of Enginerdart (an artist who makes prints out of woodblock stencils) teamed up with local cardmaker Mistee Uyehara (of Mistprint) to host a woodblock print card workshop. Guests turned their prints into a lovely card for themselves or for their loved ones.
Art + Flea’s next event won’t be till Sunday, October 11 (for the last installment of the Sunday Funday Market) but for those who want a daily A+F experience, check out Mori at Ward Warehouse (across Dairy Queen and Waiola Shave Ice).
